Three Important Sales Tips for Photographers
The key to selling your photography without being salesy is to think in terms of helping and not selling. What value can you add to the client or brand? What problems are they facing? It can be as simple as them needing dynamic images for their social media..
So how do we do this?
When you get the potential client on a call, ask them questions. Do not immediately focus on price- that should be the last concern. It's more about solving their problem.
When showing a portfolio to a potential client, it's okay to tailor your selections to match their style or aesthetic. It shows that you're thinking about them as an individual and not just mass sending images.
When cold emailing, follow up periodically but don't be pushy. Research the brands you're pitching and don't just copy and paste the same email. They get hundreds of cold emails.
I didn't realize how important this was until I started my own business and got hundreds of cold emails myself.
These are just three small things that can make your sales process easier. It really boils down to treating the client like a valued and respected individual and not a number. If you can switch from "selling," to "helping," you'll close more photography deals in no time.
