Where to Find Clients as a New Photographer

You picked out a cool name, made a website, and formed your first LLC (Side note- if you HAVEN'T done that step, you could always try using LegalZoom - they helped me form my business and the process was really easy. Not legal advice, just a helpful tip.

So now what?

You need to get clients!

Here are some places to look for clients as a new photographer.

1) Agency Access - this is a great way to connect with agencies and art directors. You may have to send out several emails to get a reply. Make sure your emails are tailored to the brand and not spammy, and that you're not sending multiple emails.

2) Threads - many people will post calls for photographers. Be mindful of the fact that many are looking for TFP/collabs. If this is what you want to add to your portfolio, then go for it, but I'd always ask about scope of work and budget.

3) Kavyar - lots of calls for photographers and many are paid jobs. Several of these are fashion/editorial. You can also send your work to magazines on this platform.

4)  Concept - Lots of good paid calls for work on here. It's a new platform that I think will be huge within the next year, they are also creating a directory of creatives.

5) Cold emailing, DM'ing, and calling- craft a few quality messages and quick pitches and reach out to brands directly. You will face a high rejection rate, but I have gotten work this way. Make sure to follow all applicable spam/cold calling rules for the area you live in.
